The construction of the Phase III (B) data centre at CITIC Telecom Tower (CTT) officially started on March 12, 2019. Dr. Tiger Lin, CEO of CITIC Telecom International officiated the groundbreaking ceremony.

Data Centre is an essential infrastructure for the next generation communications technology including Cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, IoT; and it is also one of the core businesses of the Group’s internet transformation. Following the completion of construction for the Phase III (A) data centre in September 2018, the Group is about to begin the Phase III (B) construction project to expand the scale of data centre in response to market demand.

Since the acquisition of the whole building of CTT in 2016, the Group has started the study for the extension of high-grade data centre in CTT. Currently, the available racks at the CTT data centre is close to being sold out. Around 500 new racks will be available on the market upon the completion of the construction for the Phase III (B) data centre.

Dr. Tiger Lin, CEO of CITIC Telecom said, ‘CITIC Telecom has gradually developed its self-owned property CTT into a data center building in accordance with the strategy of “unified planning and step-by-step development”. This project takes into account our long-term planning and short-term business development needs, while closely caters the market demand and lays a solid foundation for the scale development of the Group’s high-grade data centre business.’

After the completion of the entire CTT data centre reconstruction project, it will provide the market with around 4,000 racks, and it will become one of the largest data centers in Hong Kong. Together with CITIC Telecom’s data centres and Cloud computing platforms in Ap Lei Chau in Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China and other places of the world, we have formed a comprehensive coverage of data centre to meet the rising demand in the market.
