CTM Launched the First-in-Macau “10 Gigabit Neighborhood” to Promote 10-Gigabit “Digital Macau” Development
In response to the national strategy of boosting technology development and to promote Macau smart city development, CTM, a subsidiary of CITIC Telecom, is actively investing resources to establish a leading dual 5.5G digital infrastructure in Macau, supporting the advancement of AI computing and related applications. In alignment with the “10 Gigabit Pilot” program launched by the National Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), on 8th May, CTM is pleased to announce the official launch of Macau’s first 10 Gigabit Neighborhood, jointly developed with One Oasis. CTM will continue to expand 10 Gigabit access to more area in the city as to positioning Macau as a regional leading 10 Gigabit smart city.
The launching ceremony of the First-in-Macau “10 Gigabit Neighborhood” was held on 8th May in The One Oasis. Officiating guests including Ms Ip Chong Wa, Acting Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), Legislator Mr. Wu Chou Kit, Mr. Tse See Fan, President of Property Management Business Association Macao, Mr. Lau Veng Lin, Vice Director of Macau Association of Building Constructors and Developers, Ms. Cynthia Chong, Vice Chief Supervisor of Macau General Association of Real Estate, Mr. Wong Seng Fat, Director of Smart City Alliance Association of Macau, Mr. Wilson Chung, Marketing Director, One Oasis, Mr. Jeff Cheong, General Manager, Property Management, One Oasis, Mr. Vandy Poon, CEO of CTM, Ms. Ebel Cham, Vice President, Commercial of CTM.
Ms Ebel Cham, Vice President, Commercial of CTM said in her speech that, the “10 Gigabit Pilot” program issued by the MIIT earlier this year, focus on key scenarios such as residential communities, factories, and industrial parks. Last month, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the shortlisted sites, confirming that 168 communities, factories, and parks in 86 cities across 30 provinces (regions and municipalities) nationwide will participate in the pilot program. To keep pace with the latest developments in the national Internet landscape, CTM promptly initiated research and deployment of the “10 Gigabit Optical Network” pilot in Macau. By leveraging its existing network infrastructure, CTM has integrated 5.5G, 50G-PON, Wi-Fi 7, and FTTR technologies to deliver Macau’s first “10 Gigabit Neighborhood” solution.
Cham said, the launch of Macau’s first 10 Gigabit Neighborhood jointly with One Oasis, marks a milestone in CTM’s ongoing investment in digital infrastructure, empowering various sectors in Macau to seize new technological opportunities—including the development of AI computing capability and IoT application scenarios. Through the “10 Gigabit Neighborhood” initiative, CTM also aims to bring residents of One Oasis an enhanced smart living experience.
Mr. Wilson Chung, Marketing Director of One Oasis stated that the project has gained strong market recognition for its meticulous planning spanning design, construction to property management. Its status as “Macau’s premier lifestyle community” has been reinforced by multiple international awards and ISO certifications. In alignment with national smart city development strategies, the community has implemented multi-dimensional smart systems including a proprietary app integrating residential services, AI-powered energy-saving lighting, license plate recognition, and automated carbon-reduction facilities. Partnering with Macau Telecom, it has established the city’s first “10-gigabit smart community” featuring ultra-high-speed broadband and full-coverage Wi-Fi both indoors and outdoors, elevating residents’ digital living experience. Future-plans include deepening smart property management integration, emphasizing the synergy between technology and human-centric services. Through real-time monitoring systems and smart device optimization, the community aims to create a more sophisticated, convenient, and eco-friendly living environment.
