On 25 August 2026, the Hong Kong AI Agent Ecosystem Forum, jointly organised by Cyberport and the Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (HKISI-CAS), was held in Hong Kong. CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited (“CITIC Telecom”) and the CITIC HK AI Innovation Center attended the Forum and, as supporting organizations, witnessed the official launch of the Hong Kong AI Agent Challenge.

The Forum focused on technological breakthroughs, industrial applications and development opportunities in agentic artificial intelligence (Agentic AI). Participants exchanged views on innovation in foundation models and computing infrastructure, the application of data resources, and the use of AI agents in areas including financial services, legal services, business operations and customer service. They also explored how cross-sector collaboration could accelerate technological innovation and real-world adoption.

During the event, Cyberport, the HKISI-CAS, NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Hong Kong Branch jointly launched the Hong Kong AI Agent Challenge. Scheduled to run from September to December 2026, the competition is open to students, developers, start-ups and research teams. It encourages participants to turn innovative ideas into AI agent solutions with practical value, thereby fostering talent development, technology transfer and industry collaboration.
