CTM hosted No.34 SEA-ME-WE3 Management Committee Meeting
Organized by SEA-ME-WE3 Management Committee, hosted by CTM, No. 34 SEA-ME-WE 3 Management Committee Meeting was held in Macau between 28th Nov and 1st Dec 2017. 40 delegates from over 10 countries across the 4 continents attended the 4-days meeting with the objective of discussing various issues for the future development of SEA-ME-WE3 submarine cable system, as well as to sign several cooperation agreements.
SEA-ME-WE3 submarine cable system is the longest system in the world with a total length of 39,000 km, including 39 landing points in 33 countries and 4 continents. SMW3 Management Committee consists of the participating investors, which is the steering committee of the SEA-ME-WE 3 Consortium for the purpose of directing the progress of engineering, provisioning, installation, bringing into service and continued operation of SEA-ME-WE 3 Project.
CTM has joined as one of the investors of the SMW3 system since 1997 which is the most prominent submarine cable system in the world in terms of investment, length and coverage. As one of the landing points for the SEA-ME-WE3 Cable System, Macau has become one of the key hubs in Asia network and connected to the rest of the world. As the host of the meeting, CTM provided telecom services throughout the meeting. CTM stated that as one of the major transmission network systems in the world, the SMW3 submarine cable is the most important route to connect Macau with the worldwide. Besides the SMW3 submarine cable, currently CTM has extended different routes connecting to China, Hong Kong and overseas, including the bandwidth resources to all three internet operators in China, as well as Fiber systems and Microwaves systems via China to Hong Kong and overseas, providing telecom services to Macau community with high quality, stability and security.
